PURPOSE: To recognize relative position data in fraction picture element numbers by comparing plural auxiliary picture element reference signals corresponding to auxiliary picture element positions between picture element positions and a scanning signal so as to display positions of an object. CONSTITUTION: A reference object is observed, values equivalent to columns or rows of integral number of picture elements are summed with a prescribed method to provide a series of sums to define teach (reference) signals, part of the teach signals is selected to define a teach auxiliary signal, the teach auxiliary signal is tilted linearly and each auxiliary picture element auxiliary signal is made corresponding to the auxiliary picture element position. The object is observed, values equivalent to columns or rows of integral number of picture elements are summed with a prescribed method to provide a series of sums to define object signals, the teach signals and the object signals are compared to detect a specific integer picture element position suited in the best and an object auxiliary signal is defined. Then the auxiliary picture element auxiliary signal and the object auxiliary signal are compared, and the auxiliary picture element auxiliary signal most suited is discriminated and the discriminated result is displayed. Thus, a relative position of the object is accurately discriminated. |
