PURPOSE:To form a photoelectric converter element having a low cost, a large area and a high conversion efficiency by incorporating specific azo pigment in an optical active layer. CONSTITUTION:In a photoelectric converter element having an optical transmissible front electrode, an optical active layer and a back face electrode, the active layer contains azo pigment represented by a general formula formed of a specific formula I (where A represents coupler residue, and n represents integer numbers of 0 to 4). This layer may contain only the azo pigment, be dispersed in resin, or further contain an additive. In case of the dispersion in the resin, the pigment/resin ratio is suitably 10/0-1/4(wt. ratio). The thickness of the active layer is adequately 0.01-10mum, and the optimum thickness is preferably 0.05-3mum, though it is different according to the type of the pigment or the resin to be used. |
