PURPOSE:To simultaneously realize a small loss, a small crosstalk, and a short switching time by butting optical fibers without optical parts and completely separating respective input fibers from one another by walls of an optical fiber holder. CONSTITUTION:This optical switch consists of an optical fiber holder 12 which fixes two optical fibers 11a and 11b and one movable optical fiber (mobile fiber) 13, and taper guide holes 12A are provided in exit end parts of fixed optical fibers 11a and 11b of the optical fiber holder 12. The mobile optical fiber 13 is moved and inserted to an arbitrary hole to be butted and connected. These structures are piled up to compactly constitute many fiber inputs. Thus, a small coupling loss, a small crosstalk, and sure and quick optical switching are possible. |
