Colostomy bags are usually fitted by a flexible, adhesive round plate 6 around the inlet opening 4 of the bag being pressed tightly to the skin around the colostomy opening of the body and it is essential that the round plate is stuck firmly down without radial folds which might give rise to leaks. An effective tool for fold-free application of the adhesive round plate has been shown to be a solid, flat annular disc 10 applied to the back of the round plate. The disc is preferably constructed such that it is split along a diameter, the two disc parts 12 being connecting joints for the formation of a forceps- like instrument 10 which can be removed after the round plate is attached to the body, such that the instrument will not be a nuisance during use of the colostomy bag. <IMAGE>
