An orthosis for stabilizing the joint of an extremity, consisting of an upper part (2) and a lower part (3), said parts being relatively resistant to twisting and bending and being joined together by means of at least one pivot joint. The pivot joint consists of an upper joint part (4) joined to the upper part (2) of the orthosis and a lower joint part (5) joined to the lower part (3) of the orthosis. Each joint part (4, 5) is provided with stop means (22, 23, 32, 33) cooperating with each other to provide two stop positions determining the minimum and maximum bending angle, respectively, of the orthosis (1). The upper part of the orthosis and the upper part (4) of the pivot joint, with its stop means (22, 23) are made in one piece, as are the lower part (3) of the orthosis, the joint part (5) and its stop means (32, 33). |
