PURPOSE: To enable the reproduction of a blood flow rate with high exactness by constituting a flow rate sensor which has a limited flow passage cross-section and limited projecting parts of the flanks for coupling input, coupling output and guide of ultrasonic waves, is inserted into a soft vessel system for blood and has shape stability. CONSTITUTION: The projecting parts 112, 114 for the two flanks are directed toward the flow passage and are helpful for the coupling input and coupling output of ultrasonic waveguide signals. These parts have also the function to guide the ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic converters in the parts 102, 102a above a supporting base respectively consist of one piece each of converter elements 116, 118 and coupling pieces 120, 122. These coupling pieces are pressed to the coupling surfaces 124, 126 of a measuring insertion body and are in a tight contact state. The parts 104, 104a below the supporting base have the function to actually fix the measuring insertion body 100. The blood is introduced in the flow passage well limited in the boundary for the distance of several times the diameter of the flow passage before and behind the intrinsic measuring point. Then, the disturbance in the profile of the flow by the bending of the conduit is averted.
