In the case of an antenna array having patch aerial elements, the dielectric substrate is provided with grooves running between the aerial elements. In consequence, the excitation of surface waves is suppressed and the height of the dielectric substrate can be enlarged in order to increase the bandwidth, without any disturbing influences being produced on the radiation characteristics of the antenna.
