PURPOSE:To easily manufacture spiral can barrels by winding a long-sized beltlike metal sheet spirally so that both edges thereof are superimposed on each other and welding the superimposed side edges and subsequently, depositing these by a couple of rollers to form a tubular continuous body and subsequently, cutting it to a prescribed length. CONSTITUTION:The beltlike metal sheet 8 with 0.1-0.3mm thickness is pulled out from a winding coil 2 and sent to a pinch roller 6 via guide rollers 3, 4 and 5 to wind the metal sheet 8 spirally by its rotation. In this case, both side edges 8a and 8b of the metal sheet are overlapped somewhat and superimposed on each other to form a butt part 9 which is welded by a laser beam from a laser beam head 7C of a laser beam irradiating device 7 and subsequently, the welded zone is pressed and deposited by the pinch roller 6 and a driving roller 12 to face it to manufacture the tubular continuous body 16. This body 16 is cut to the proper length and the can barrels of three-piece cans are easily manufactured from the long-sized metal sheet. |
