For monitoring the temperature of refrigeration and deep-freeze equipments, an indicator is proposed, which contains, in one or more hollow spaces, indicator liquids which freeze or melt at specific temperatures. The container is initially brought into a first position, so that the indicator liquid flows into a first partial volume of the hollow space under the influence of gravity and there freezes. After freezing, during the monitoring phase, the container is brought into another position, so that the indicator liquid, in the case of an exceeding of the melting temperature, flows once again under the influence of gravity into a second partial volume of the hollow space. <IMAGE>
