The play back for extended play video disc has bandwidth compressed video as four non-contiguous fields in each track with one of three fields having video from standard segment. A segment of video information is read from a medium during a period of time. The first segment is repetitively output during a predetermined number of consecutive second periods of time, each of the second periods being longer than the first time period. The play back extends play time of video disc by factor of six.
