EXPLOSIVE DETECTION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To detect an explosive further effectively by making coupling to a detector that is formed by such an inorganic scintillator as a scintillator made of sodium iodide and utilizing a thermal neutron. CONSTITUTION: An explosive detection system 10 has a loading station 12 and an unloading station 14. A center screening constitution body 20 surrounds the explosive detection system. The explosive detection system is located at the upper part of the center of a conveyor belt 16. Various kinds of articles such as a trunk and a small cargo are placed on the loading station 12 and are sent to the unloading station 14 via a cavity 26 by the conveyor belt 16. A detector related to a neutron supply source 32 forms a C ring that faces upward and a detector related to another neutron supply source 34 forms a C ring that faces downward. The improved three-dimensional distribution of a nitrogen distribution within an arbitrary specific object that passes through the detectors of two sets of C ring are detected.
