The invention relates to an apparatus for cleaning contact lenses. d e apparatus comprises a motor supplied by a battery and the output shaft of which drives a speed reducer having V-belts which includes, at its output end, an annular element inside which are mounted, so as to rotate, a first shaft 3 carrying a gear 31 and a second shaft 4 carrying a gear 41; fixed to the first rotating shaft 3 is a contact-lens support element 92 which has the form of a basket, which is placed in a container 91 containing the cleaning fluid, the drive mechanism being arranged so as to cause the arms 3, 4 to undergo rotational movements in opposite directions in order to move the lens support basket in the cleaning fluid in a reciprocating manner. <IMAGE>
