In order to excite an H21 wave in a round waveguide (2) which is supplied with the H11 wave, a metal partition wall (3) is inserted into this round waveguide (2) parallel to the electrical vector of the H11 wave, and the round waveguide halves thus produced are filled with dielectric inserts (4, 5) of different length, in such a manner that the wave elements of the two round waveguide halves are phase-shifted through 180@ with respect to one another in the aperture (6) of the round waveguide. A second radial metal partition wall (7) can be provided at right angles to the metal partition wall (3) in order to avoid cross-polarisation. In order to improve matching, the partition walls or the dielectric inserts can be chamfered towards the round waveguide input (1) (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
