As fastening elements, which can be introduced into bores of a masonry structure, use is made of plastic dowels which have legs which can expand to a great extent in the region of cavities. In this arrangement, the shaft part located at the end of the dowel is drawn in the direction of the dowel head by means of the fastening screw which has been introduced. In order to obtain a guiding aid on the introduction of the fastening screw, there are arranged, along the longitudinal bore of the dowel, preferably a plurality of screw guides in the form of flash, which mechanically connect the mutually opposite legs before expansion. When the legs expand in the cavities, said screw guides rupture and thus do not hinder the expansion procedure.
