Dry sorbitol having improved application properties and process for its production

The invention relates to a dry sorbitol produced by spray-drying and having improved application properties. The object is achieved by subjecting the dry sorbitol to an additional mechanical loading after the actual drying process. Mechanical treatments which have proven suitable are in particular passage through a disintegrator with a particle comminution to 40 to 80% of the starting values or pneumatic transport with an average gas velocity of 15 to 50 m/s.
