A process for the production of a glass plate provided with a mask for cell culture purposes is known. In order to develop such a process further to make it possible to produce a plurality of glass plates with the same mask, the intention being that it be possible to apply very small culture zones which are separate from one another, a stamping element is used to produce connected hydrophobic area regions which form the mask and surround hydrophilic uncoated regions on which cells can be placed.
