PURPOSE:To accurately store a traveling track with a small amount of data by giving a digitized map a map number, a path number, and an index number, monitoring those numbers in traveling, and storing last numbers when they are different from the last numbers. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 6 finds the current position by an azimuth sensor 1, a distance sensor 2, and a GPS device 3 while the vehicle travels. Then a map within a constant range including the current position is read out of a 1st storage medium 9 and displayed on a display device 11. Further, traveling data are obtained from the map data during the traveling as mentioned below and stored on 2nd storage medium 10. Namely, the medium 9 is stored with the map number, path number indicating a road in the map number, and index number of a node in the path. Here, the path number and index number in current traveling are found and if they are difference from last values, the last values are stored on the medium 10. Consequently, the traveling track is accurately detected with a small amount of data. |
