Series of cylindrical workpieces moves continuously along a path, each in turn being supported at its ends for axial rotation. While so supported the workpiece is contacted by a pair of opposed electrodes, one fixed while the other is rotated to cause rotation of the workpiece whereby two diametrically opposed welds are formed each extending over a controlled arcuate distance. During welding the workpieces may be conveyed in peripheral recesses of a rotating disc. - Both appts. and method are claimed.
