The subject of the present invention is a machine for placing a label on a piece of revolution, for example a tube 60. This is placed in a horizontal position on the frame 12 of the machine. A feed mechanism 14, 32, 36 makes it possible to convey, above the tube 60, a length of adhesive strip 22 substantially equal to the circumference of the tube. An element 62 in the shape of an upturned U, integral with a guillotine, makes it possible to cut the strip 22 and to glue it onto the upper half of the tube 60. A carriage 82 equipped with a flexible blade 98 makes it possible, via a to-and-fro (reciprocal) movement, to glue the two ends of the piece of adhesive strip onto the lower half of the tube 60.
