PURPOSE:To obtain a compound metal oxide having high purity and a specified compsn. useful for a superconducting material by dissolving a mixture consisting of alkoxides of a rare earth metal and an alkaline earth metal, an org. acid salt of copper, and a beta-diketone complex, etc., in a hydrocarbon solvent having >=100 deg.C b.p., and hydrolyzing said mixture. CONSTITUTION:An alkoxide of a rare earth metal (e.g. a compd. expressed by formula I, II, etc.), an alkoxide of an alkaline earth metal (e.g. a compd. expressed by formula III, IV, etc.), an org. acid salt of copper, an alkoxide of copper, and a beta-diketone complex or beta-ketoester complex (e.g. a compd. expressed by the formula V or VI, etc.) are mixed in a proportion corresponding to the proportion of the metal to be contained in the target compound oxide, and the mixture is dissolved or dispersed in a hydrocarbon solvent (e.g. xylene, ethylbenzene, etc.) having >=100 deg.C b.p. The compounds are hydrolyzed by adding water and refluxing under heating. Thus, a compound metal oxide having high purity and closely equal compsn. to a target compsn. useful as a superconducting material or magnetic sensor, is obtd. without performing heat-treatment at high temp. |
