摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To assure the safety of insertion and positioning of a catheter and the characteristics and control of pulmonary arterial pressure measurement by providing this catheter with a proximal measurement hole at a point apart several cm from a distal measurement hole so that the pulmonary arterial pressure are measured through both measurement holes, insofar as the catheter does not yet arrive at a wedge position during the insertion into the pulmonary artery and simultaneously recording substantially the same and two associated pressure curves. CONSTITUTION: The catheter 1 is inserted into the pulmonary artery 3 in the systematic blood circulation in the cardiectasia state, i.e., the ventricles 7 and 9 are relaxed, the pulmonary valve 10 and the aortic valve 11 are closed and the tricuspid valve 12 and the mitral valve 13 are opened. The blood directing balloon catheter 1 having an expanded balloon 2 arrives near the wedge position in the pulmonary artery 3. The catheter has the proximal measurement hole 18 apart several cm from the distal measurement hole 15. The respective holes include pressure (chip) converters. The simultaneous measurement of the pulmonary arterial pressure, the pulmonary capillary wedging pressure, the pressure on either side of the tricuspid valve and the pressure on either side of the pulmonary arterial valve is made possible.</p>
