The invention relates to a process for producing activated coke from lignite for use as an adsorbent in gas purification, in particular in the desulphurisation of flue gases. The aim of the invention is the technically and economically advantageous production of activated coke from lignite. The invention is based on the technical object of developing a process for producing wear-resistant, granular activated coke on a lignite base, which allows a specific surface area of high adsorptive effectiveness of the activated coke to be achieved in a defined pore system in a technologically simple manner, without having to add bituminous coals and binders. According to the invention, the technical object is achieved when the pyrolysis briquettes produced by a special process are coked according to a defined heating-up regime up to a coking end temperature of 650-800@C, characterised in that the coking is carried out in a flushing gas atmosphere containing 10-30% by volume of CO2 and 10-40% by volume of steam, for a coking time of 1-3 hours. |
