<p>After passing through the press (2) to crush its insulation, the cable moves to a cutting unit (6) where it is cut into specific lengths. After this, it passes to a pre-crusher (7) which chops the cable lengths into shorter pieces. The screw transporter (8, 9) then scales the insulation away from the conductor parts, and a filter unit (34) separates the conductor parts from the scaled insulating material. The method of working of the screw transporter is for the cable to be inserted between the screw proper (32) and the surrounding casing (33). Cutting edges are provided on the inner surface of the casing which work in conjunction with the outer edge of the screw to scale away the insulating material from the conductor parts.</p> |
