<p>Non destructive testing of laminated iron sheets is performed by an ultrasonic generator located above the surface and which transmits through an interfacing medium such as water. Reflexions from faults and non metallic inclusions are detected. The generator and receiver are mounted in a control head (105) which is movable over t]e surface of the sheet (12) under test. The control head is attached through articulated pivots (38, 41) with a common axis (40) to guides (8) in the form of a scissor and to a lifting cylinder (6). These are mounted on a carrier arm (70) which can rotate around an axis carrying a number of control heads. The guides (8) have toothed pivots (30) at the carrier mounting ensuring symmetrical movement with respect to the vertical movement of the control head.</p> |
