PURPOSE:To obtain an easily absorbable crude drug easy to take and having high bioavailability, by subjecting a crude drug to roasting and/or treatment with digestive enzyme. CONSTITUTION:A Chinese drug, Japanese drug, folk medicine, natural vegetable or animal substance, etc. [e.g. DAIO (rhizome of Pheum palmatum), KAKKON (root of Pueraria lobata), JUYAKU (whole grass of Houttuynia cordata), CHOREI (sclerotium of Polyporus umbellatus), secretion or stone of animals such as GOOU (gallstone of Bos taurus) or JAKOU (secretion of male Moschus moschiferus), extract of Fraxinus japonica] are put into a thick-walled pan (e.g. porcelain pan) and heated at 70-120 deg.C or roasted by far infrared irradiation, etc. As an alternative method, the drugs are added with a digestive enzyme (e.g. amylase, protease or lipase) and subjected to digestive enzyme treatment. Although the objective drug can be prepared either one of roasting and enzymatic treatment, it is preferable to use both of the above methods in combination. The active component may be concentrated by extracting with water or organic solvent, etc., after the roasting and enzymatic treatment. |
