PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of cutting a raw film consisting of a plastic film by running the raw film continuously along the peripheral face of a guide roll, then projecting a laser beam onto the raw film, thereby cutting the raw film. CONSTITUTION:The raw plastic film 11 is continuously run along the rotationally driven guide drum 10. The rotation of the drum 10 is controlled at the circumferential speed coinciding with the traveling speed of the raw film 11 and the film 11 is wound about 30 times around the peripheral face of the drum 10. Convergent light beams 8, 9 of the laser beam 2 are projected onto the film 11 traveling a considerable speed and the projected spot surfaces 12, 13 are instantaneously converted to plasma and are cut at a high temp. of several hundreds-several thousands deg.C. The thermal damages of the spot surfaces 12, 13 are prevented by the cooling effect of the drum 10 at this time, by which the accuracy of cutting the film 11 is improved. |
