PURPOSE:To support a high-speed peripheral device with a channel having a low function in terms of hardware by using a processor which adds subsequent commands in case the requested transfer value of a command string that undergone chain designation from a host device is less than a fixed level and an intermediate buffer that collects data. CONSTITUTION:In case the requested transfer value of each command contained in the command string that undergone chain designation from high-order software is less than a prescribed level, the subsequent commands are prefectched within a channel 5 and the transfer values of these prefectched commands are added to the transfer values of said commands of the command string. In case the transfer data on the commands are separated from each other in a memory 2, these data are sent to an intermediate buffer 6 and generated in continuous data. These continuous data are transferred en bloc to a magnetic tape 3. Thus an overrun is never produced at a high-speed peripheral device, e.g., the magnetic tape 3. |
