PURPOSE: To fix a baking degree regardless of the amount of a bread material and to bake the desired amount of bread by judging the volume of dough by the temperature of a bread container after required time after the temperature of the bread container reaches a prescribed temperature after baking is started and setting baking time corresponding to the volume. CONSTITUTION: The temperature of the bread container after the prescribed time after the temperature of the bread container reaches the prescribed temperature after baking is started is detected and an energizing amount to a heater is set corresponding to the detected temperature at the time. For instance, in the case that the volume of the dough is small, since a thermister temperature after the lapse ofτ0 (=2) minutes after detecting that a thermister 21 is T0 (=100 deg.X) exceeds a first reference temperature Ta(=150 deg.C) and becomes TH1 as indicated by a chain line,τ1 (=30) minutes is set as the baking time. Also, in the case that the volume of the dough is medium, since the thermister temperature becomes TH2 in the middle of the first reference temperature Ta(=150 deg.C) and a second reference temperature Tb(=142 deg.C) as indicated by a solid line,τ2 (=42) minutes is set as the baking time. Further, in the case that the volume of the dough is large,τ3 (=47) minutes is set as the baking time. During the baking time set in such a manner, the dough is baked.
