DRY ICE HAVING FRESHNESS RETAINING AND DEODORIZING ABILITY AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain dry ice capable of sustaining freshness of perishables for a long period, removing smell thereof and preventing lingering scent, by dissolving an extract of a theaceous or lauraceous plant in liquid carbonic acid and solidifying the resultant solution. CONSTITUTION:An extract of a theaceous plant, such as tea plant (Thea sinensis L.) or sasanqua (Camellia sasanqua Thunb.), or a lauraceous plant, such as laurel tree (Laurus nobilis L.) or cinnamon tree (Chinnamomum loureirii Nees), is dissolved in liquid carbonic acid so as to provide preferably 0.01-5wt.% content thereof. The resultant solution is then solidified to afford the aimed dry ice.
