PURPOSE:To enable ink to be stably discharged without wastefully discharging the ink by extremely reducing a frequency of execution of blank discharge recovery operation with a recovery mechanism, by providing a means by which a space near an orifice of a recording head is made to be of a humid atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A heater 10 is arranged along a rear side of a recording sheet 7 on an upstream side of a platen 4. The recording sheet 7 is heated from the rear side with this heater 10, and water contents contained in the recording sheet 7 are released. When the recording sheet is introduced on the platen 4 via a paper feed roller 5, the water contents contained in the recording sheet 7 are evaporated by heating with the heater 10, and are released as vapour into a space 11 between a discharge surface 3 and the recording sheet 7. Therefore, by keeping an atmosphere around an orifice in the space 11 under a humid state, water is adhered to its surroundings, and the orifice 2 can be prevented from drying. Thereby, a frequency of recovery operation owing to a blank discharge is reduced, and non-discharge owing to increase of viscosity of a recording solution can be restrained. |
