PURPOSE: A plate type light guide plate, a surface light source device including the same, and a backlight unit including the same are provided to obtain uniform brightness on the entire surface of the light guide plate by dispersing a hot spot on the LED. CONSTITUTION: The light from an LED source comprised of a plurality of LED packages is inputted to a light incidence unit(41). A light emission surface(44) is formed with the plate with a uniform thickness. The light inputted to the light incidence unit is emitted to a liquid crystal panel as the illumination light. A leading tip is formed on the opposite side to the light incidence unit and has a narrower cross section than that of the light incidence unit.
