The invention relates to a method for straightening longitudinally displaceable tubes rotating about their longitudinal axis with the aid of a straightening machine with a plurality of straightening rollers arranged in series and adjustable individually or in common to different extents. It is characterised in that, at a short distance after the straightening machine, the tube is detected by a contactless sensing arrangement with a number of sensing devices corresponding to the number of straightening rollers, the values determined by the sensors are input into a computer and this computer transmits the calculated values to the straightening rollers for this batch and these values are stored as base values for tubes to be processed subsequently belonging to batches of the same kind. <IMAGE>
