The plastics material protection cap guarantees the closure of an obturator (1) with an externally notched (14) collar (12) in which a stopper (2) is screwed. The stopper has a head (26) and a handle (3) on hinge arms (3a,3b) on either side of the head. A tubular sleeve (18) locking the head has two slots (19) for the passage of the arms and has a ring connected by teeth (22) of low resistance cooperating with the notches so that when (un)screwing the teeth engage or escape respectively. Two strong bridge pieces (51,52) connect the ring and sleeve on either side, passing the bottom of the slots, these being on the first edge (19a) of each slot. Unscrewing the stopper at the level of the base dia. of the slots, the sleeve can separate into two halves each held onto the ring by the bridge pieces. USE - Protecting contents of gas bottles, e.g. for LPG e.g. butane.
