PURPOSE:To completely charge a lead-acid battery in a short time by performing constant current charge in the final charging stage at a current of about 1% of the battery capacity for a time proportional to the sum of the constant current charging time in the initial stage and the constant voltage charging time in the middle stage instead of constant voltage charge only. CONSTITUTION:In the initial charging stage, constant current charge is performed at a current of 15-20% of the battery capacity. In the middle charging stage, constant voltage charge is performed at a voltage of about 2.4V/cell. In the final charging stage, constant current charge is performed at a current of about 1% of the battery capacity for a time proportional to the sum of the charging times of the initial stage and the middle stage. By this charging method, a troublesome equalized charging job is eliminated, troubles caused by overcharge are also eliminated, and a lead-acid battery is completely charged at a relatively short time. |
