PURPOSE:To increase the absorbing amount of an electrolyte into a positive mix in its center to remarkably increase the discharge duration of a battery by making the positive mix dense in the periphery and rough in the center by two process press molding. CONSTITUTION:A positive mix 2 is formed by mixing AgO, MnO2, and graphite, by granulating the mixture, and by press molding in a pellet having a density of 4.0-4.3mg/mm<3> to prevent breakage. The positive mix 2 is put in a positive can 1 and the periphery of the mix is pressed as preliminary molding with a rod 3. In this molding, the pressure is increased to obtain a molding density of 5.5mg/mm<3> or more. By this molding, the center 2b of the positive mix is swelled. The whole surface of the mix is pressed with a nonhollow rod 4 so as to obtain the equal height to the periphery 2a. The pressure is made larger than the preliminary molding pressure but smaller than the first molding pressure to obtain a molding density of 4.5-4.7mg/mm<3>. A KOH aqueous solution is impregnated in the positive mix 2 and a negative terminal plate 7 filled with amalgamated zinc 6 is fixed to the opening of the positive can 1 via a gasket 8 and then the edge of the opening is bent inward to seal a battery. |
