Prepn. of alkylamino-furanone derivs. (I) (R being H or polypeptide-link compatible protective gp.). The starting materials for (I) are dipeptides or dipeptide-esters (V) and novel cpds. of formula (IV). The reaction prod. of (IV) and (V) is (III), which is reduced to (II). (R-in (II), (III) and (V), as in (I)). Cpds. (I) convert into (I) following acid cyclisation and removal or protective gps. or following an alkaline treatment and removed of protective gp..
