A spiral displacement machine for compressible media having at least one displacement chamber (8) which is arranged in a fixed housing (2) and configured in the manner of a spirally extending slot and having in each case one web- or strip-shaped displacer (9) which is assigned to each displacement chamber and is likewise spirally configured is described. Each displacer is held on a front face of a disc-shaped traveller (3) drivable eccentrically with a translatory movement with respect to the housing (2) in such a way that, during operation, each circumferential point of the displacer (9) performs a circular movement limited by the circumferential walls of the assigned displacement chamber (8). On the front faces of the displacers (9) and of the strip-like housing walls (30) remaining between the displacement chambers (8), there are provided sealing strips (25, 27) which are held in spiral grooves (26, 28) and bear against opposite surfaces of the other component, respectively. To ensure as uniform a bearing of the sealing strips against their opposite surfaces in the operationally warm state of the displacement machine as possible, the depth of the spiral grooves (26, 28) and/or the height of the sealing strips (25, 27) over the spiral circumference is/are to be differently dimensioned in such a way that, in the starting state, at ambient temperature and with sealing strips bearing against the base of the groove, the sealing gap at the radially inner spiral end ... about the ... at operating temperature ...
