SUBSTITUTED ACRIDINE DERIVATIVES AND THEIR USE.

Substd. acridine derivs. (I) are of formula (I) where R1-R8 are independently a H, an alkyl grp., a substd. alkyl gp., an aryl gp. a substd. aryl gp., a halo or an alkoxy gp; Z1 represents a six-membered heterocyclic aromatic gp. that contains one or two N in the ring and that also can be substd. with a 1-8C alkyl gp. or a quinolyl gp. opt. a pyridine group; R1-R8 are pref. all 1-8C alkyl gps. and opt. all H. The photopolymerisable cpd. comprises 0.01 to 10 pts.wt. of the substd. acridine (I), 100 pts. wt. of a photopolymerised cpd. (2) and 0 to 400 pts. wt. of a thermoplastic polymer. (2) has a bg. pt. of 100 deg.C or higher under normal atmospheric pressure and has at least one ethylenically unsaturated group.
