PURPOSE:To prevent both corrosion and wear and to improve the reproducing efficiency for a magneto-resistance effect element forming a magnetic field detecting part, by providing at least >=1 section limiting areas to said effect element. CONSTITUTION:An MR (magneto-resistance effect) element 2 is made of an Fe- Ni alloy, an Ni-Co alloy, etc. An electrode 3 is made of Al, Cu, Au, etc. Plural pieces of slits are formed at a part of the side opposite to a recording medium 2 of the element 2 by wet etching, dry etching, lift-off, ion forming or the like process. A current is flowed to the element 2 via the electrode 3, and this current does not flow easily to a comb-line part 2a. The greater part of the current flows to a consecutive part 2b, and an effect of the element 2 is produced only at the part 2b. while a magnetic field generated from the medium 1 flows to the part 2b through the part 2a without receiving any resistance. Thus the reproducing effect of the element 2, and the function of the element 2 is never affected despite of the wear of the part 2a. |
