GENERAL PURPOSE DATA CONTROL SYSTEM

A command data packet of fixed length, say thirty-two bits, is encoded with clock recovery synchonization bits which are composed of a fixed synchronization code word and a cyclical redundancy check code word. The encoded data is provided for transmission to the remote stations. The packet includes an operation code, an argument code and a station address. An activation signal is generated at the base station in response to initiating a voice transmission to a remote station or to receiving a command data packet from a remote station. Responsing to the activation signal, a remote station transmits a command data packet of fixed length including an operation code, an argument and a station address, to the base station.
