PURPOSE:To prevent electrostatic breakdown of heat generating resistors and obviate lowering in printing quality, by removing static electricity generated on frictional contact between a glass protective layer and a transfer film by a static eliminator roller, a static eliminator brush or the combination of the two. CONSTITUTION:Static electricity generated due to frictional contact between a glass protective layer 5 and a transfer film 6 is present on both the layer 5 and the film 6. The static electricity is discharged through a static eliminator roller 11 to the earth side. The roller 11 is connected to an arm 12 for mounting a thermal head thereon, and the arm 12 is earthed to a main body of a printer. By this, the static electricity is substantially eliminated, and electrostatic breakdown of heat generating resistors can be satisfactorily prevented. As a result, ununiformity in density is prevented from occurring upon printing owing to variations in the resistance of the resistors, and an effect is obtained on enhancement of printing quality and reliability of the head. |
