PURPOSE:To improve the quality of quartz crucible and to reduce the production cost by using silicone rubber for the elastic member surrounding a center core material and gelling the sol type raw material of quartz crucible by using a mold. CONSTITUTION:In the production of crucible by the sol-gel production technique gelling a sol type raw taterial by using a mold, silicone rubber is used for the elastic member surrounding a center core material. In this production, as the silicone rubber is used for the elastic member surrounding the center core material, the silicone rubber is contracted by the contraction force of gel when the gel contracts after the sol has been gelled and the center material has been drawn up. The generation of cracks is scarce when the gel contracts, as the rubber is used and the reaction force is very small. Moreover, silicone rubber has such a function that it is clearly peeled off from the gel, because silicone rubber is hydrophobic and has a large contact angle. |
