PURPOSE:To prevent image quality from being lowered due to defective energization, by providing a surface energization layer having a volume resistance of not more than 10<-2>OMEGA-cm on one side of an electrically anisotropic plate-shaped body. CONSTITUTION:An electrically anisotropic plate-shaped body comprising a multiplicity of acicular bodies of a conductive ceramic or metal having a volume resistance of not more than 10<5>OMEGA-cm dispersed in a matrix of a nonconductive ceramic having a volume resistance of at least 10<6>OMEGA-cm, with the longitudinal direction of the acicular bodies oriented in the thickness direction of the plate-shaped body, is provided on the conductive layer side of a recording material which comprises a conductive layer comprising a thin metallic film with a surface resistance of less than 50OMEGA, or on the conductive base layer side of a recording material which comprises a thermal transfer layer on one side of a conductive base layer comprising a 2-30mum thick metallic foil having a surface resistance of less than 1OMEGA. A surface energization layer comprising a conductive material having a surface resistance of not more than 5OMEGA and a volume resistance of not more than 10<-2>OMEGA-cm and being insusceptible discharge breakdown at the time of electrothermorecording is provided on one side of the plate-shaped body. The thickness of the surface energization layer is set at 0.05-5mum. |
