PURPOSE:To manufacture a zinc-base alloy excellent in mechanical strength and easy of casting and working, by incorporating specific percentages of Al, Cu, Mg, and Mn to Zn. CONSTITUTION:A zinc-base alloy having a composition consisting of, by weight, 7-10% Al, 2.5-5% Cu, 0.02-0.5% Mg, 0.7-2.0% Mn, and the balance Zn with inevitable impurities is prepared. Further, the inevitable impurities indicate <=about 0.007% Pb, <=about 0.005% Fe, <=about 0.005% Sn, and about 0.05%, in total, of other metal or semimetal elements. By this method, dimensional deformation due to ageing can be inhibited and the zinc-base alloy capable of producing a metal mold, etc., of plastic molding in a short time can be obtained. |
