PURPOSE: To obtain a softening and antistatic composition for fabrics, comprising a liquid carrier and a specific softening agent dispersed in the liquid carrier in the state of <=1μm particles, not containing an amine, having good storage stability on an acidic side, and having good biodegradability. CONSTITUTION: This liquid softening and antistatic composition for fabrics comprises a liquid carrier (for example, water) and a softener represented by the formula (each R is a short chain alkyl, a hydroxylalkyl or their mixture; R''' is a 16-18C hydrocarbyl; R" is H, a short chain hydrocarbyl; R" is a 13-15C hydrocarbyl substituent; X is a counter ion) in an amount of at least 1 wt. %. Therein, the softener does substantially not contain an amine, has a particle diameter of 0.2-0.45μm, is dispersed, and is stable on an acidic side of pH 2-5. The composition is useful for washed product-rinsing cycles, has excellent storage stability and viscosity characteristics from a standard concentration for the rinsing cycles to a high concentration (for example, 3-15 wt.%), well acts at a low temperature, and effectively acts even in hot air driers.
