This assembly is composed of a fork head 100 and of a fork rod 13 and is intended for a standardised bicycle. The lower end 133 of the rod 13 is fixed rigidly onto and into the collar 101 of the fork head 100. According to the invention, the housing formed in the collar for the lower end of the rod 13 is a hole which tapers towards the bottom. The lower end 133 of the rod is suitably adapted to this convergent shape of the housing. Thus, the wall thickness of the collar 101 may increase downwards, which makes it possible to increase the strength of the fork head. <IMAGE>
