PURPOSE:To manufacture a hot-rolled austenitic stainless steel plate contg. Al without embrittlement, by subjecting a steel slab contg. specified percentages of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr and Al to heating, hot rolling and rapid cooling under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A steel slab consisting of, by weight, <=0.2% C, <=2.0% Si, <=2.0% Mn, 15-35% Ni, 15-25% Cr, <=2.0% Al and the balanced Fe with inevitable impurities is heated to >=1,150 deg.C, hot rolled at >=900 deg.C finishing temp. and rapidly cooled at once to <=600 deg.C at >=5 deg.C/sec cooling rate. Thus, cracking during the hot rolling and embrittlement during the rapid cooling can be prevented and austenitic stainless steel contg. >=2% Al is industrially manufactured. |
