A washing apparatus, particularly for use on airplanes, comprising: a carriage (10), a support (11,12,14,16,22), a mechanism connecting the carriage (10) with the support (11,12,14,16,22) for moving the support (11,12,14,16,22) up and down on the carriage (10), a swing arm (30) extending generally horizontally, a frame (48) pivotably mounted on the swing arm (30) and extending upwardly from the swing arm (30), a brush (56) rotatably mounted on the upper end of the frame (48), and a mechanism means connecting the swing arm (30) to the support (11,12,14,16,22) for swinging movement of the swing arm (30) on the support (11,12,14,16,22). The apparatus may further include a cover (34,86) at least partially surrounding the brush.
