PURPOSE:To make it possible to produce a high output property lead storage battery in a low cost by using a copper mesh as a collector, and forming a synthetic resin membrane over the surface of an active substance at the peripheral edge of an electrode plate made by filling the active substance to the collector to compose a negative electrode plate which is used for the storage battery. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode plate 1 made by filling an active substance 3 to meshes 2 cut off from an expanded metal of copper or a copper alloy is composed by forming a synthetic resin membrane 4 at the peripheral edge of the exposed active substance 3 to prevent the removal of the active substance. In such a composition, the formation process of a plastic frame, a lead alloy frame, or the like at the peripheral edge of the negative electrode plate to be used can be omitted, and a low cost negative electrode plate, and a low cost and high output lead storage battery using such a negative electrode plate can be obtained. |
