<p>PURPOSE:To enable the detection of abnormal voltage due to imperfect contact or the like with high accuracy regardless of the dispersion in the total resistance value of a torque sensor by providing an adjusting resistance for detecting the imperfect contact of the torque sensor, so that the voltage of a torque sensor power supply can be adjusted by the adjusting resistance. CONSTITUTION:A motor-operated power steering controls the intensity and direction of the current to be supplied to a motor 7 which assists the steering force of a steering wheel 1 by a controller 11 in response to the signals from a torque sensor 6 for detecting the steering force of the steering wheel 1 and a steering angle sensor 10 for detecting the steering angle of the steering wheel 1. In this case, the adjusting resistance of a variable resistor VR1 is adjusted, in a torque-sensor abnormality detection circuit which is incorporated in the controller 11, so that the voltage V1 at the initial stage comes to a predetermined voltage VA. And while making this condition as a reference, if the change in the voltage VA exceeds for example, more than 10%, it is judged that imperfect contact has been caused at any of points A-D, and the chopper circuit is cut off.</p> |
